Do Something For Others

"Death is no cause for sorrow, but it would be sorrow if one dies without having done something for oneself and for the world."

Sister GG Tan

A sad notification received this morning from Bro Wong ...........

"....... It is sad and heart breaking to inform all thet Sister GG Tan had died in an accident in Ladakh.I write this mail with tears in my eyes and unable to sleep the whole night but manage to hold myself to forward this tragfis news to all in the early morning. The sad news is compounded by the loss of two other friends in the accident namely Sister Julie Ang (those travelled in pilgrimage tours may know her) and Sister Jenny, I knew recently.I have fond memories of Sister GG and always remember her good deeds in spearheading many of donations drive and also done many recording of Dhamma talks..…….The most sad things is the children in India and other poor places where all orphanages await for her smiling face and all the gifts she gathered from your generous contribution, distributing all pencils and gifts and substantial contribution to various schools.Just imagine, how sad it is for all children that the Queen of Dana is no longer around - just like the big tree has fallen and now that the children will suffer from the hot blazing heat of the sun, without the cooling shade of the motherly tree.Oh Sister GG! where you are, may you, sister Julie Ang and Sister Jenny be reborn the realm where the Dhamma flourish……..May Sister GG Tan, Sister Julie Ang and Sister Jenny attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana."

Stay Young

1. Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph: "Tried everything twice, loved it both times!"

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning.
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with THEM.

6. The tears happen.
Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love.
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health.
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the shops, the city, even to the next suburb, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.

And if you think the above do not make sense, who cares?

2 Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

"One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Its Friday !

Durex says to Kotex, "When you work, I lose seven days of business."
Kotex replies, "If you fail to work once, my business stops for nine months."
Wife: "I wish I were a newspaper, so you can hold me every morning."
Husband: "I wish you're a newspaper TOO, my dear so I can have a NEW ONE every morning!"

Dumb Blonde

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster."

He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh "Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."
